Wake Up and Smell the Caffiene Free Diet Coke

The nuke-u-lar option is upon us. Frustrated with "activist" judges on the left, the Christian Right is trying to stock the courts with some activist judges of their own. But they can't because those wiley, atheistic Senate Democrats are using the filibuster to block Bush's nominees. To finally have their way with all three branches of government, republicans will soon seek to change Senate rules so the filibuster (in cases of nominees, not legislature, of course) will become useless.

I have two comments on this:

1. Kick me if I'm wrong, but out of the last, say....twenty-five years, Republicans resided at 1600 Pennsylvania home for all but eight of them. Not satisfied? Let's go back thirty-seven years. Since 1968 there has been a Republican president for all but twelve years. Republicans - 25, Democrats - 12. How and when did so many activist judges sneak in? Furthermore, why is the state department full of communists?

2. However much I dislike his theology, and however forgetful he is as a practicing attorney, Thomas Griffith is a nominee that the christian right should be excited about. He's very religious. He worked on the impeachment of Bill Clinton. He's going to be on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, the most important Court besides the Supreme. And despite his slip-ups he passed the judiciary committee unanimously. What more do they want? Oh, wait......he's Mormon. That's right. I forgot. Mormons don't count.
